About Fi corfe

Hey, I'm Fi!

I love paddling — and I love sharing that passion even more.

I started paddling as a fresh-faced 17-year-old. I didn't really know what I wanted to do with my life… so I went and worked as a trainee instructor on the Isle of Man. Within my first week there, someone showed me how to paddle and roll a sea kayak — and well, that's where the addiction started. I never looked back!

Since then, I've whitewater and sea kayaked all over the world. A few of the cooler things I've done in my boats:

  • Whitewater kayaked for two months out in Nepal

  • Circumnavigated both islands of New Zealand in my sea kayak

  • Paddled the entire length of Patagonia, including Cape Horn, in my sea kayak

  • Crossed the Bass Strait a couple of times with climbing gear, setting new routes on islands as I went

  • Circumnavigated Tasmania in my sea kayak

  • Whitewater kayaked across Europe — Slovenia, Austria, Italy and France

My coaching and leadership qualifications:

  • Advanced Sea Kayak Coach and Leader

  • Advanced and Performance Whitewater Coach and Leader

  • Advanced Canoe Leader

These days, what I love most is helping other people fall for paddling the way I did — whether that's nailing your first roll or paddling your first tidal race. Wherever you're starting from, I'd love to get you out on the water.

How do I coach?

I've spent years paddling in some properly committing places — remote, exposed coastlines where the consequences are real and the margin for error is small. More than anything, those trips taught me a simple truth about learning: people progress fastest when they feel safe enough to try the thing that scares them a little.

That's the heart of how I coach. I'll take the time to understand where you're at — your goals, the things that worry you, and the stuff you'd love to crack — and then build the day around them. Rather than throwing you in at the deep end, I want pushing your limits to feel like the natural next step, not a leap into the unknown: the right skill at the right moment, in conditions that challenge you without overwhelming you.

The result is a relaxed, encouraging day where you're stretched by just the right amount — and where the progress sticks, because it's built on real confidence rather than luck. Whether you're finding your feet in moving water or chasing a specific qualification, my job is to get you off the water a more capable, more confident paddler than when you got on.
