The Rough Bounds: Arisaig to Knoydart
From the skerries of Arisaig to the wilds of Knoydart.
Slip into the turquoise waters of Arisaig and paddle out among the skerries. Expect curious seals, white sand beaches, hidden coves and sunsets over Rum and Eigg. Then follow the coast north into the wild Rough Bounds, the remote, roadless country that stretches to Knoydart. It’s a landscape made for exploring from a sea kayak.
We take care of the route, the tides and the weather decisions, so all you need to do is turn up and paddle. We’ll share what we know as we go, from reading the water to finding the best landings. It suits paddlers with some sea kayak experience who are comfortable in gentle to moderate seas.

Skye at its rawest, seen only from the sea.
Skye looks different from the water. Towering cliffs rise straight out of the sea, with sea stacks, arches and caves to paddle through. Much of this coast has no road and no path, so a sea kayak is the only way to see it. It’s wild, committing and beautiful, and it’s why we keep coming back.
We plan the route, the tides and the weather windows, so you can concentrate on the paddling and the scenery. We’ll pass on what we know as we go, from reading the water to handling swell around the cliffs. It’s for paddlers with some sea kayak experience. You should be comfortable paddling in force 4 winds and swells of around a metre.
