core coach training
Dates: 11th - 12th January 2027
Cost: £300.00
course information
Core Coach Training is the first step on Paddle UK’s coaching pathway. It’s a two-day practical course about how to coach: how people learn, how to plan a session, and how to adapt what you’re doing so it works for the person in front of you. It isn’t tied to a single craft. The coaching skills it covers apply whether you’re in a canoe, a kayak or on a SUP.
The course is for anyone working towards a Paddle UK Coach Award. It also suits club paddlers, outdoor centre staff and leaders who already help others improve and want to get better at it. It’s also worth repeating as CPD if you’re already coaching and want a fresh look at your practice.
We run it with a healthy inside/outside mix looking at theory in comfort and then being able to put it into practice.
What the course covers
Over the two days, we’ll:
Explore different approaches to coaching, and when each one works.
Look at how people learn, and what that means for how you set up a session.
Practice the core coaching skills of observing, giving feedback and adapting a task on the fly.
Build your personal coaching development plan so you know your next steps towards a Coach Award.
