GRADE 3 SKILLS BOOSTER
Is it for me?
Are you fairly confident on grade 3 and looking to step up?
Are you wanting some focused coaching on your fundamental skills to feel more in control in more technical rivers and features?
Do you have a fair range of grade 3 - 3+ rivers under your belt?
Don’t worry about your roll too much, it helps, but not essential for this week.
What will the course involve?
After exploring where each of us are at and working our individual aims for the week, the course will revolve around focused and Individualised coaching to help you dial and improve your fundamental skills.
We will likely look at dialing the boof, increasing roll confidence, exploring our psychology, developing river reading tactics and more.
We will work to find sections of rivers and rapids that are within your abilities but also enabling appropriate challenge for coaching and your development.
Ideally, after the first 2 days, we will perhaps look to find some slightly more challenging rapids to put some of our new skills into practice.
Where will we be?
Predominantly, we'll likely be based around the Spean / Fort William area. However, there's also a fair chance that, for at least a day, we'll travel to the Findhorn in the north-east.
The rivers we end up on will depend entirely on the levels and on each individual's abilities and aims for the week.
Some possibilities include: Upper or Lower Roy, Arkaig, Spean Gorge, Upper Findhorn, Middle Moriston, and sections of the Orchy.
Some slightly pushier options we could explore — if skills are developing well and you fancy putting them to the test on a straightforward grade 4 — include: the Loy, more technical sections of the Orchy, Roy Gorge, some rapids on the Etive, and a rapid on the Moriston.
